york hotels : This list is by no means a complete one. There may be a dozen hotels I've not discovered. Most don't have Email addresses. The Cosmopolitan just put up its own website and has reservations through it, but I don't yet know the address. Mister LincolnBus (yours) and walking tours of New York City. Victoriana, Gramercy, The Village, SoHo Shopping And Art, Brooklyn Bridge, The Irish In New York, Skyscrapers, Art Deco, Walk On The Wild Side, and the ever-popular Times Square.Have you had experience with hotels in Manhattan that are not tooexpensive. I have stayed at the YMCA which was fine for myself, eventhough I am a senior citizen. york hotels : I've bid three different hotel stays for NYC on Priceline and I can tellyou, that it completely depends on when you are staying and in whatarea.From there you can see accepted bids in the past and, perhaps, for yourstay. It will also give you a list of hotels that typically come upwith Priceline in each "zone." If you check the websites for the hotelsthat typically show up, check the rates and availability, and then lowball that, you should end up with a substantial discount. Please readthe FAQs on Bidding For Travel, above, or you'll be sorry. ;-) especially if you post there!In all but one of my bids in NYC, I've been thrilled. The one bad timein NYC, I stayed at the Hilton in Midtown West and was given a crappyroom. From what I have read, that hotel has changed its ways regardingPriceline. The other rooms I received in NYC were all excellent. Two successful bids in midtown for $85 - $95 per night. Both niceproperties according to those that did the staying. This was in October.Time of year is everything there.

It's managed byManhattan Suites East (800-ME-SUITE or 212-772-2900).I just called, and their rates are $169-219.I think Natalie might have a budget guide to New York thatmay have more modestly priced places. And at those rates,you'd be better off staying at the world-famous PickwickArms ($40 to $80, last we checked) and taking cabs. They'reat 230 E. 51st (800-PICKWIK).As Alyce said, no. The 8th Ave. line is as far west assubway lines get; that's still three blocks from Javits,and unfortunately they're the long (crosstown) blocks.I guess you don't want to impose on your pal Theresa, eh?I'd offer you a place in Joisey City, but it's a bit crowdedwith these three Swedish au pairs.11th Ave. between 34th and 38th. (Yep, takes up fiveblocks. Whoever is coming should wear comfortable shoes.)
