vancouver hotels : Hotel Vancouver is one of the old style grand hotels. It has alwaysbeen one of the best hotels in Vancouver, located about 3 minutes bytaxi to the pier. Hotel Vancouver has a several fine shops andrestaurants, and is a short walk to Robson street with many more fineand expensive shops and restaurants.PanPacific is the one at the pier..very expensive $ 300+ per night. The Wedgewood is a nice hotel, centrally located downtown and is only abouta 10 min cab ride from anywhere. Search for Hotels/Vancouver..theres a goodwebsite that gives them all and rates too. You can also book 'online'The Four Seasons, while lacking good views except from the upper floors, has beautiful rooms and remarkably consistently excellent service. The Deluxe Junior Suites, each with a living room separated from the bedroom by French doors, are my favorites, although I haven't tried the (relatively new) one- or two-bedroom suites. The corner rooms are also reportedly very nice, with good views if high enough. But in terms of service, I've heard that the Sutton Place hotel (5stars located in a bustling part of downtown) has top notch service.
vancouver hotels : Tried it. They're very good, and have an amazing dessert buffet Friday nights, and their room service is also good (particularly the maple crepes.)But their rooms, particularly the suites, are no match for the Four Seasons.Hello, could someone please advise me of a mid-range hotel, with jacuzzi tubs? Close by the airport would be nice but notnecessary.I also would like a midrange hotel within walking distance ofthe ethnic neighborhoods. I am not familiar with the city, soperhaps someone could advise me where that might be.We stayed in the Honeymoon suite at the Abercorn in Richmond - a 5 minute(maybe 10??) drive from the Vancouver Airport - see web-page atThis was 10 years ago this December - but it was a nice jacuzzi tub :)You really won't find hotels in ethnic neighbourhoods - Richmond (where theairport is) has really been populated by Chinese - but there's not a"neighbourhood" to say - just miles of strip malls of chinese restaurants &stores. Greek area is near Broadway and MacDonald - but no real hotelsthere... Italians are on Commercial Drive in East Vancouver - but again, nomajor hotels. What ethnic group are you after? Maybe that would help. vancouver hotels : What about the Days Inn on W Pender? It's not fancy (or exquisite likethe Pan Pacific!), but I've heard a lot of good things about it frompeople who wanted somewhere cheap and comfortable to stay inVancouver. I used to work at the Harbour Centre office building (whereSimon Fraser's downtown campus is located)... and the Days Inn wasonly a 5 minute walk away. There are also hostels in the neighbourhood(like the Cambie Seymour, which is just kitty corner to the HarbourCentre)... but the Days Inn is probably closer to what you're lookingfor. There's also the Jolly Taxpayer Pub/B&B just down 2 blocks fromthe Harbour Centre on W Hastings... they're still fairly new so Ihaven't heard any online feedback about them yet... although it doeslook like a cute place! That time of year -- almost impossible to getanything less that 135$/night..What ever you do, CALL a hotel direct..I have been bounced around telephone reservationsystems and have been quoted 4 or 5 different ratesfor the same room and the same night.. often withprices varying by as much as 75 - 100 dollars..It is a joke.. and the luck of the draw. vancouver hotels : My wife and I will visiting Vancouver from Australia in late March this yearSome of the hotels that are advertised in the brochures down in this part of the world are the Pan Pacific,& Rennainsance,(waterfront) Wall Centre Garden Hotel and Wedgewood (downtown). We would appreciate any comments please. We will be visiting Victoria as well and have been recommended either the Empress or Laurel Point Inn. Comments as well please if possibleregardsTrevorAll the hotels you mentioned are high quality hotels which are all about 3 stars I would imagine.Pan Pacific - right on Burrard Inlet, beautiful view of the mountains, very expensive. Charles and Diana stayed there during Expo 86Rennaisance - again beautiful view of the mountains and Burrard inletWall Centre Garden - Vancouver's newest hotel. close to everything downtownWedgewood - Intimate hotel - close to shopping - just 1 minute from Robson St. (our main shopping street)Laurel Point Inn - nice ammenities, pool and jacuzzi - about 5 years old - smaller than the Empress but quite niceThose are all good choices for hotels. You might want to add the Hyatt Regency, the Sutton Place (formerly Le Meridian) plus the Four Seasons to your list for Vancouver. The Sutton Place and Four Seasons are 5 star Hotels while the others are 4 star. The Pan Pacific recently dropped down too 4 from 5 but the quality is still the best. Be aware though that you will be paying 5 star or 4 star prices. vancouver hotels : You can get more info and a good shot of the Pan Pacific Vancouver at Check out this hotel as it is one of, if not the, best hotels in Vancouver, AAA rating aside. I understand that no hotel has ever regained their fifth diamond, but this one would certainly make a great break from that tradition if thety get it back next year. It is certainly a great property, location and service, and I strongly can recommend it.You can get more info and a good shot of the Pan Pacific Vancouver at Check out this hotel as it is one of, if not the, best hotels in Vancouver, AAA rating aside. The service is better at the Pan Pacific but the price is much higher. Both are right on the water with the best views from the Pan Pacific. The Wall Center is the newest of the three and in my oppion the worst.Small overpriced rooms with so so service. The best thing to be said about it isall the rooms have all the modern services you may expect. The Wedgewoodis a smaller and older hotel in the middle of downtown. Good location and a very nice hotel more like a small inn.
