small luxury hotels : Next best is the Hotel de Tuilerieen which is nearby and about the samepriceMary Weatherford wrote in message We are planning a trip to Paris and Brugge in September and would like arecommendation on how long to stay in Brugge. I thought 2 or 3 days wouldbe enough time to see this city. We have no plans on visiting Brussels, just train transfers and the plane to London. Also any hotel recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We are 2single women of a certain age and would like to spend under $200 per night.Prefer a small hotel in the old part of town, perhaps on a canal. I don'tknow anyone who has spent any time in Brugge so will be grateful for anyinfo. I have literature from the Belgium Tourist Office and also Flandersbut nothing critical or discriminating. This is promotion material and Iunderstand that they can't state any preferences.Frequent flyer miles are expiring at the end of Dec 1998, that is why we hadto make our plans now for travel in September.Mary Weatherford wrote in message We are planning a trip to Paris and Brugge in September and would like arecommendation on how long to stay in Brugge. small luxury hotels : My husband and I went to Brugge in 1990. Two full days should allow enoughtime. It is a beautiful city which we were lucky to find by accident. Two days in Brugge may be enough for "American Style", for a good impressionabsulote insuffiecient.Ever heard of Ieper in connection with the Great War? ('14-'18) Don'tforget to visit this place and relating museum. On Fri, 25 Dec 1998 20:41:56 +0100, "roberto" wrote:Myself, living 85 km from there in Antwerp, having been in Bruggenumerous times, love it each time I come there but 2 days should besufficient to have a good idea about Bruges. If you follow my Brugeswalk, you can handle it in 2 days.By the way, the stereotype "American way" isn't actual any more! Ourtransatlantic friends learned how to travel lately, I found that out;-)Discover Bruges by visiting the Bruges part of the Belgian section ofIf you can spend 3 or 4 nights, you might want to consider renting the veryspacious and comfortable apartment we stayed in for a week last spring. It is2 blocks off the Markt (main square), with nice pubs, restaurants, bakeries, shops, etc. very nearby. There was a color cable TV, 2 large bedrooms,well-equipped kitchen, etc. It is "De Drie Koningen", which we found on theinternet. For your extra day or two you could consider a vist to nearbyGhent...very lovely...or a day trip with Quasimodo Tours. small luxury hotels : Planning a vacation to either Cancun or Cozumel -haven't decided which. Can anyone give me any insighton which would be a better vacation destination...My husband and I like snorkeling, swimming, shoppingand site-seeing. Not to mention eating terrific Mexicanafood!!We are planning on going around the second week of December.Any information on what the weather would be like during thattime of the year would also be greatly appreciated! From: ()Subject: Re: Cancun/Cozumel Newsgroups: Date: 1996/08/01 I'm a diver, so Cozumel would be my destination of choice.Hmmm, well, if you like great mexican food, you'd just love Cancun. Let's see, they have McDonalds, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, Bennigans, Fridays, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Wendy's, Pizza Hut, etc., etc, etc.Get the picture? If you want to see ruins, getting from Cozumel to Tulum using the ferry is just about as fast (and probably cheaper) than from Cancun anyway.Go to Cozumel.Veronica, if you put these in the order of importance Cozumelis the best choice. Snorkeling in Cancun is not that good andprobably will require a boat trip or road trip. You can snorkelright off of the beach on Cozumel or go to the national parkto snorkel. small luxury hotels : The beaches for swimming are better and the shopping is better in Cancun and site seeing to one of the Mayan ruins are on the mainland. Cozumel has a small ruin. Cancun is more Americanized that Cozumel. I'm a Cozumel person myself. The beaches and shopping are fine there for me but thesnorkeling is what I really go for.The Cancun hotel zone consists of one beautiful hotel after another stacked on top of each other, ala Miami Beach. Nightlife consists of every imaginable nightclub(American) you can think of, ala Hard Rock, Planet Smollywood, etc. The beach consists of the most beautiful fine white arena(sand in Spanish you'll ever have the privilege of laying their eyes on. On the part of the strip that faces the ocean, the water is heavy(sometimes dangerous surf). Another part of the strip which faces Cancun Bay is calm, because it is protected from the ocean. My partner has been visiting her timeshare in Cancun for twenty yrs. Several weeks ago, we spent a week on Cozumel. Cozumel is one of the top three diving destinations in NA. While it also has the nightclub activity, it is much quieter and low-key than Cancun. You wil not find better snorkeling and diving than on Cozumel. Prices on Cancun can run very high as well. small luxury hotels : If you'd like to subscribe to The Daily Travel Report, send me ane-mail I'll send you more information.1.
