orlando hotels : Can anyone recommend hotel accommodation around the International Drive areaof Orlando, last time we visited we used Days Inn Lakeside. The cheaper thebetter! From: ()Subject: Re: Orlando Hotels Newsgroups: Date: 1998/11/15 Howard Kirrane wrote:If you are looking for an inexpensive room try Quality Inn Plaza. You have to call them, it's difficult to book on-line because they saverooms for Delta, AAA, and others. You can try though. Both of these are on International Drive at the Sea World end and areokay for the price.I have been to WDW 13 times since 1982and have stayed in many different typesof hotels. I have gone the expensive route,as well as the most affordable route. There is a package you can sendaway forcalled " The Orlando Magic Card". I foundthis packet was very helpful in finding affordable accomodations in and aroundthe International Drive Vicinity. Included in this packet, you will receivea booklet listing hundreds of hotel/ motel/resorts. They rate them by cost. You alsoreceive a booklet listing all the attractionsand theme parks, and a card that you can use for discounts off on admissions to mostattractions. (WDW Theme parks excluded). We stayed in a Comfort Inn a few yearsago and the cost was a mere $29.00 pernight. It was very clean and the person-nel were all very friendly and helpful. This past February we went to Disneyand stayed at the Best Western International and the cost of that hotel was around$43.00 per night. Both of these hotelswere found in the booklet I received inthe packet. I am almost certain you can obtaininformation on receiving this literatureby calling the toll-free directory and ask- ing for the 800# for "The Orlando MagicCard. Hope this was helpful. orlando hotels : Hey everyone,I'm looking into hotels in the Orlando area for when i'm at Disney World. We've already decided that staying in the park is WAY too expensive for ourminimal budget. I have the Orlando official accommodations guide and I'veselected a few possible hotels. Before I book, I'd like to know if any of youhave stayed/know about these places...are they clean? How's the location?Etc...We have a car so that's not a problem, but we would prefer to take a free(?)shuttle to Disney World. (we won't be going to Universal or any of the otherattractions)BestWestern Maingate Hotel8600 West Irlo Bronson Memorial HighwayTravelodge Orlando Central Park7101 South Orange Blossom TrailQuality Inn and Suites Kissimmee2039 East Irlo Bronson Memorial ParkwayWell, that's the list. Feel free to suggest others but they need to be under$40/night (preferably less!!)Thanks, I hope you guys can help me....my decision will be based on what youguys/gals tell me! *Rosanne Gerry **************************************** ************************************** "And now here is my secret, a very York University simple secret;it is only with the heart that Toronto, Ontario one can see rightly; what is essential is Canada invisible to the eye." --Antoine de Saint-Exupery--************************* **************************************** ************* orlando hotels : I thought many people not in the US or those who don't get the New York Times would be interested in this summary of an article that appeared in the Business Day section of the Thursday, November 23, 1995 paper:His Goal: No Room at the InnsWith Last-Minute Discounts, a Hotelier Jolts Competitors This article describes Harris Rosen's Orlando properties, mostly along International Drive. The best known is the Omni Rosen. Rosen says, "I can't sleep until I know all my hotels are filled." To accomplish this, he "openly cuts prices during the day, often to a rock-bottom $29.95 at his lower-priced properties, to lure the last weary traveler to the last empty Rosen room." In Orlando, where 78.8% has been the average annual occupancy rate, Rosen's hotels averaged 96% over the last 10 years. Rosen says most other Orlando hotels would rather not lower prices in order to keep the average daily rate up. On days when he thinks his will not fill up, the signs outside normally flashing $39 to $59 start flashing $29.95 in 3 of his hotels. The story reports, he bases the change on "occupancy levels, time of day, maybe even phase of the moon." Also, his lower priced hotels who cannot accommodate guests send their walk ins to his higher priced hotels, but at their lower rates! orlando hotels : We four will be returning to DW March 17-21, staying per usual at WildernessLodge. We may have an opportunity to extend our time in Orlando for anothertwo days. One problem is that we will have totally shot our vacation budget bythe 21st.I saw a Frommer's Guide comment about a Kissemmee motel named Isle of Bali.Frommer says the place has a really nice feature pool. The rates are _a_lot_less than Wilderness Lodge.Does anyone have any first- or second-hand reports about Isle of Bali? It's a timeshare. It's a nice place, and yes the pool is great. They have music, BBQ, bar and fun at the main pool. Not sure what their rates are, but you can usually get a good deal if you'rewilling to go through the ownership presentation. Like far too many timeshares, they don't take no easily. (DVC is a different story altogether)(Rates drop when you say no, hell they drop as they make you offer after offer)The place is probably very lively during good weather. I was there during a coldspell in December, but the Margarita was still good.
