montreal hotels : I am traveling to Montreal for one night. What is the top hotel in the cityThe Four Seasons on Sherbrooke (downtown, but quiet, across from McGill University, great gym and Chinese restaurant in the Hotel is probably the top. I've called a few placesthat are centrally located and, based on the rates listed in aninternet price list, are quite reasonable. I wonder if anyone on thisnewsgroup has ever stayed at and.or has any information (good or bad)about the following:I stayed at the both the Quality Hotel on Avenue du Parcand the Hotel La Tour Centre-ville on Rene Levesque Blvd.last summer. I found them both to be comfortable, convenient and quite reasonable. At both hotels, I spent less than $70 Cdn plus taxes and garage parking.Check for current rates and phone nos. for these and many other Montreal hotels.I am looking for recommendations on hotels around the Molson Center inMontreal. The wife and I are taking our kids to a BritneySpears show there in August. We were looking for something that wasreasonable, hopefully had a pool and was not far from the venue or a subwaystop. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
montreal hotels : there are a lot of hotels near the Molson centre but what youshould be aware of is Montreal's most expensive hotels are inthat area of the city.If you have a map of the city centre The Molson centre has Ruede la Montagne on its left,rue st.antoine below it,Windsor trainstation to its right,rue de la gauchetierre directly in front ofit,ans one block in front of it is Blvd Rene-Levesque.The Metrostops that border it are Lucien L'Allier and Bonaventure.Now If you look 2 blocks north on your map on rue de lamontagne,you will see Hotel de la montagne on the left side ofthe road between rue sainte catherine and ave de maisoneuve.that is probally the least expensive hotel close to the MolsonCentre,but it will run about $150CAD per night.If you go Further to the west or further to the east, the hotelsare a bit less expensive.One of my favorites is Manoir Le Moyne,which is an All suiteHotel and it runs about $100CAD per night.It is located at 2100ave de maisoneuve west,and is 2 blocks from the old MontrealForum.If you get a high room on the back of the hotel there,youget a wonderful view of the city's skyline.(i was in room 2002)

The Hotel Intercontinental is very nice andsteps away from the vieux port.I don't know if it still exists, but back in the late 70's, and mid-80'sthere was a hotel called Hotel L'Institute, which was actually operated bya hotel school. Nothing fancy, but the service was phenomenal (the folksworking the desk were getting graded on their customer service). It wasalso a bargain at the time. If I remember correctly, it was within walkingdistance of all the big Montreal attractions.
montreal hotels : We are headed to Montreal this weekend for the concert and currently havereservations at the Novotel because it is close to the Molson Center andseemed decent. However, we have been looking online and some of the fancierhotels like the Omni are really cheap and we are debating switching. Doesanyone who has been to Montreal have any recommendations? I have neverheard of a Novotel before and am just getting nervous . . . Thanks!Novotel is also throughout Europe and is a very good chain, and if you endup staying, you will be happy with the qualityNovotel is a fine place -we did the one in NJ the summer of 1999. the showis at the Bell Centre is that just another name for the Molson Center?The Molson Centre was re-named the Bell Centre as of September 01,2002.I stayed at the Delta Centre-Ville a couple of years ago, and I highlyrecommend it. It isn't the cheapest place to stay downtown, but ratesare competitive with other major chain hotels in the area (Sheraton,Marriott, Hiton, Queen Elizabeth, etc). If you're looking for morethan just a place to crash out, The Delta Centre-Ville has an indoorpool, saunas, and a couple of eateries - including a revolving rooftoprestaurant with excellent food and service.
