Much appreciated...I can not speak to the mohegan sun...but am very familiar with foxwoods.Foxwoods does offer a poker room rate sun-thurs. I was up there a few weeksago and was able to request a room via the poker room manager. To bespecific, I spoke with David. I received a 250 room for 100 which was agodsend actually, since there was a soccer tourney in the area that weekendand there were no rooms up and down the coast for many many miles. Workedout very well. Only drawback, they can only provide you that rate the dayof. You can't call a few weeks ahead of time and request the rate. Therooms were very comfortable..the service was spectacular.As for the poker itself...while low limit stud is certainly spread out infoxwoods...the hold'em games are attractive as well in my opinion. 2-4 onup to 30-60 and beyond on friday nights.All in all, i think you'll find what your looking for at foxwoods. Oh, bythe way...in order to get that room rate...you'll need to sign up for theirwampum club card. Think you can even do that over the phone by calling1-800-foxwoods.
mohegan sun hotel : Visited Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT during the week.It is a beautiful casino built around a circle. It may been the thirdlargest casino in the world. Foxwoods is number one. The casino's circle has four sections-each one has a theme of one of thefour seasons with carpeting that reflects that theme. Each of the foursection has about 14 dice tables. All tables, when I was there during themorning and afternoon, were $5 minimums with double odds. If they changethe table minimums you are grandfathered in at the minimum you wereplaying.All the Pit crew were very friendly and accomodating.The dealers were a mixture of absolutely fine mixed with newbies.Most of the dealers were trained by The Mohegan Sun Casino or were luredfrom Foxwoods Casino in CT.They do not have a hotel but will put players up in a motel and bus themto the casino.-- In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst you can do is nothing. --Theodore Roosevelt
mohegan sun hotel : It is updated and improved. Donšt miss it! Look at: The Academy of Environmental Science Secondary School 100% correct... Excellent casino. Just there 8/8, won acouple of G's. I definatly recommend the under 2hr drive from NYC(depending on the traffic!) Will probably go back in the next coupleof weeks.If I start out with a big pile of those drab reds and greens, the dealersare kind enough to help me change them into a nice little pile of shinyclean whites.Visited The Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT during the Sundaycelebration of their one year anniversary. The place was mobbed.As part oftheir celebration they had a terrific fireworks display. During the afternoon all of the tables were $5 minimum with two timesodds. In the evening there was two $5 tables left, one $25 table and allof the rest were $10 minimum tables. Most were filled with players. Thetables hold 7 players to a side except for the $25 table which held six toa side. I prefer the smaller physical tables as I can see the dice whenthen hit the back wall.

Where are good places to stay overnight?Mohegan Sun does *not* have their own hotel. But the local CT paper saidthey were planning to build one now that they know the casino is a hit.That is an understatement as the CT paper reported that Mohegan Sun andFoxwoods had *slot* revenues of $882 million from 10/86 to 08/97.We stayed in the 50 year old Oakdale Motel that was about 10 minutes fromMohegan Sun. It had just 20 rooms but was quaint. I would never havestayed there as it looked as if it might be Hitchcock's "Bates Motel"except the AAA said it was fine. It was and was $65 a night.I recently stayed at Foxwoods (Ok, a few times more than I should havebeen out gambling), the Two Trees Inn is good, but expensive. I'm notsure there's much else there, nothing really close anyway. The tablesthere are usually packed, a lot of $5/2x tables open at any given time,except peak evening hours there's only like 4 or 5. The dealers arefriendly, but seem a little green (I'm used to the Taj in A.C.)....youkind of have to watch them place your bets, but once you've been at thetable a while, they get the hang of it. But hey, its just what I'venoticed, anyone else have input?-Mike
mohegan sun hotel : No need to spend night at "Bates Motel" when you are at Mohegan Sun. The Ramada Hotel and a Marriott Courtyard are within a few miles north of the Casinoon Rte. 395. Both are first class.Bernie - Foxwoods has it's own hotel and inn.Mohegan Sun owns a motel but not on the casinosite. You could call their 800# for info. There aremany inns and small motels in the area. If you area member of AAA get their free guide book for thearea which will have lots of listings with prices.Even if you have to go to a motel a little distancefrom the Mohegan they have their own highwayexit ramp so are easily and quickly reached fromnorth or south. The Mohegan has a much betterparking situation than Foxwoods. Even this weekend which was packed because of their anniversary andit being a long holiday there was no trouble parkingor getting there.Foxwoods on the other hand is located on a backcountry road which tho improved considerablysince they opened leaves a great deal to be desiredwhen traffic is heavy, and parking is still very verybad especially on weekends.
