london hotel : Can anyone recommend a London Hotel for about 100 GBP per night for a twin room? I know that the Imperial has twin rooms for 94 GBP per night but it really does look like giant Motel 6 with 400+ rooms.I would like to hear from anyone with suggestions. We will be in London from May 5 - 12. Apartments rent by the week and we will be there only 5 nights. How about the Ibis in Euston? They are currently quoting £70 per night.Go to :-and then go through the reservation route to get a quote, also you will see other locations. My experience of Ibis (in Amsterdam) was that they are very clean; functional; en suite bathrooms; tv; simple restaurant. This post represents the views of the author and does not necessarilyaccurately represent the views of my employer. As always it depends on what you want.If you want a Starred hotel then the Imperial isn't a bad place to stay atan affordable rate - i assume it includes breakfast? If you would like us to do a search for you, log on to and leave details on our booking formand we'll do a FREE search and find for you and book it for you IF you wishus to. We have various discounted and corporate rates available. london hotel : Kind RegardsJohnUkInternational"Mary Weatherford" wrote in message...Can anyone recommend a London Hotel for about 100 GBP per night for a twinroom? Would like to stay in London 2-3 days before traveling home.Would prefer something in 3-4 star range within walking distance to somesights.....Also need info on private car service from pier to hotel and hotel toairport. Will also have one day each in Paris, Glasgow and Dublin and recommendationsfor those cities would be great. Thanks JCThere are two hotels that I regulalry stay at in London. One is the LeMeridien Waldorf hotel in Aldwych and the other is the RadissonHampshire Plaza hotel in Leicester Square.I am not sure how 3-4 star US compares to the star ratings in the UK.From memory 4 star US equals 5 star UK. Apologies if I got thatwrong. Both hotels are 5 star UK rated hotel. The Waldorf is in a fabulous location to take in all that the theatredistrict in London has to offer. The Hampshire, being right inLeicester Square, is also fabulously located to access the greatshopping on Oxford Street and Bond Street etc as well as the nearbytheatres and SOHO etc. The Hampshire also has a tube station nice andclose which makes getting to just about anywhere in London a breeze. london hotel : Like many other people in this group, I too am looking for an inexpensivehotel or B&B in London :-). It doesn't have to be fancy, but I'd like it tobe in a *safe* (I don't want to feel intimidated at night) and convenient neighborhood (close to a tube station).A couple of places I'm lookin at right now are in Bloomsbury near RussellSquare, the Jenkens Hotel and the Euro and George Hotel. Any opinions onthe neighborhood or the specific hotels?Help would be greatly appreciated; and I will summarize the responses ifthere is a sufficient number. From: ()Subject: Re: London hotel Newsgroups: Date: 1992-04-29 18:56:54 PST Don't know those particular hotels, but ave stayed in the Bloomsbury/Russel Square area. It's very nice, near the British Museum and theRoyal Academy of Dramatic Arts. The area is also very quiet, whichI appreciated. I stayed at a B&B on Gower St. called the Maree Hotel, which was quite clean and comfortable at twenty two pounds nightly in a single. I didn't have my own bathroom, which was not a problemfor me, but you may prefer privaate plumbing.I recently posted a request for recommendation on inexpensive B&B's in London, and also for opinions on the Bloomsbury area. As promised, here is a summary of responses with names omitted. Thanks again to all who replied. (BTW, the responses to Bloomsbury were so positive, I'm going to stay in that area)--------------------In January I stayed at a hotel in Coram Street, which is near RussellSquare. The neighborhood seemed reasonably safe. I wouldn't want towander around there after midnight. Not because a lot of shadycharacters mill about, but because the place is pretty empty then. This is quite near University of London, so you see a lot of student types around.--------------------the Russell Square area is great. Very safe at night. I stayed at St. Margaret's Hotel (see Let's Go for address)and it was clean and very nice. Bathrooms were just down the hall.I had never stayed at this type of place befire, but Iwas pleasantlysurprised. Any hotel on that street would be nice too. Don't forgetto request a room that doesn't face the street. The cabs, busses andtrucks make a lot of noise. Have a great time.--------------------I'll just comment on the Bloomsbury neighborhood since I livedthere last year. Perfectly safe and nearly all hours. There are oneor two things I would avoid though: Don't walk through King's Crossvery late at night. Just east of the King's Cross tube station is anot great area of London. Not terribly bad, but just enough to makesomeone feel slightly uncomfortable after dark. Much better to gothrough Russell Square, Euston Square or even Euston station. Likeother major cities, London has their share of homeless, but they areless aggressive than those in the U.S.--------------------Russell Square is quiet as the tomb at night. But it's only a few blockssouth of King's Cross, which is about the roughest area in the whole city.I wouldn't worry about staying there. (I have a friend who lives nearby, and used to stay with him quite frequently).--------------------Don't know those particular hotels, but ave stayed in the Bloomsbury/Russel Square area. I'd say it was one of the better inner-cityneighborhoods -- except for an occasional panhandler, there was noevidence of urban decay. The area has lots of tourists and students --it's the site of the urban campus of London University.
