We were pleasantly surprised -- a very nice hotel by LVstandards. You should tell the original poster, though, that it's not onthe strip. Not an issue if you rent a car or, as we did, drive to LV, butless convenient if you're dependent on the hotel shuttle. Was at the Luxor about 18 months ago. Nice place,very large. Things are very spread out, to get from point A to B youwill have to walk through the casino. Its at one end of the Strip soyou'll pay more in taxi fares to get from place to place. If you stay in the pyramid (vs the towers) the elevator goesup/down at an angle. las vegas hotels : I expect that any Las Vegas hotel would be considered 5-star if you're awhale.If you're talking about just an average guest, no special comps, and use theEuropean/Asian definition of 5-star, I don't think most Las Vegas hotelswould qualify.In my experience Bellagio is _not_ a 5-star hotel, at least by European andAsian standards -- though the hotel itself is nice, service was minimal andsurly (at least 2 years ago, when we stayed there).The Venetian is 5-star in every sense of the word, both excellent,comprehensive service and facilities.Caesars' Palace is probably 5-star by European standards, but is an exampleof a slightly less "nice" facility still qualifying. Don't get me wrong --I like Caesars, and have stayed there more often than any other hotel in LasVegas. It just isn't up to the Venetian standard, IMHO.I've never stayed at the Aladdin, either new old, so I can't comment.The Four Seasons at the Mandalay Bay is, almost certainly, a true 5-starhotel.As for getting cheap rates, I had an odd experience with the Venetian. WhenI first called for reservations, I was quoted $229/night (Friday andSaturday), and told that was the best rate. I called back an hour later,and was told that there was a special (and apparently secret) rate of$189/night. I don't know the best way to get the best rates, but it isclear that simply calling and asking the reservations agent is not the wayto go.

I would look at Mandalay Bay, Paris, or Mirage beforeAladdin.
las vegas hotels : I've recieved e-mails from the Venetian for $99 per night for weekdays onslow months ( stayed in Sept. $431.64 for 4 nights tax included) . This monthrecieved one for $119 per night, they must have gone up but is still a gooddeal. The only bad thing is to recieve this rate you have to prepay all of yournights and it isn't refundable or changable. I'm not sure if I startedrecieving these promos after registering with them online or because a I hadmade reservation with them then later canceled.
