hotels in dublin : I've stayed twice at the Kilronan House in Dublin, and will be sure tostay there again on my next trip. The people there were warm andfriendly, the hotel was comfortable and clean, and the breakfast wasterrific. The location is also quite good - a short walk to St.Stephen's Green. We also had a car on one trip and were able to parkit in front of the hotel. We were cheerfully assisted with bookingselsewhere in the country by the hotel staff. I highly recommend it!PatHave stayed in three. The Burlington is a modern hotel and was probablythe mostlike an American ****. The staff was most helpful when my daughter becameill.GRITSHave got conflicting reports on the quality of Best Western in Dublin.Try Jurys Christchurch Inn. Clean, reasonable, close to tourist areas. A realfind as far as I was concerned. If I remember right... The BW is on the Liffey, past the governmentbuilding? It's a walk, not unhealthy, but a walk, to the center ofDublin, past a not very nice neighborhood. I was told by the cabby not towalk from the hotel after dark because it could be unsafe. I only stayedone night, as I moved on to B&Bs for the rest of my stay, but as Iremember the room was clean, the shower warm, and the room too - which isa luxury in Dublin more often than not!!
hotels in dublin : I think you mean Jury's Inn at the Custom House. It is not a walk past any'neighbourhood'...the problem is that the area is deserted at night, as veryfew people live in the area, not that there is anything 'not very nice'about it. For such a central location, it's room rate (and it is a roomrate, not per person) is quite reasonable. I am interested to know where inDublin you have stayed in a 'cold' room. You get what you pay for, as in most things.Trishremove 'nospam' to email meDiana Gannon wrote in message ...We are planning a trip to Dublin in December 2001. I am not having much success searching on hotel in Howthand the results I do get have close to no information about accomodation.I was up in Howth this morning, and the Baily Court Hotel is still open, butthe St. Lawrence, the Howth Lodge and Sutton Castle are all closed.Location-wise the Baily Court would be nearest to the harbour etc, while theMarine is located in Sutton, a few kms down the road.We stayed at the Deer Park hotel in Howth in June. It might be a little morethan what you were looking for. The view was beautiful; the accomodations werea little worn.We stayed at the Burlington last March. The rooms are large and bedscomfortable, but breakfast is terrible, after the first one, we ate out, although it was included in room rate. The staff is very pleasant andhelpful, we would definitely go back: it is located in a very quiet area, just a few steps from the restaurant/pub/nightclub area, and 10 walkingminutes from the business center, shopping and Trinity College. However, due to the host club being without a ground for many years, the festival has, only in the last two years, begun a revival with Corinthian's new ground and synthetic pitch. The number of teams participating has risen dramatically since its restart two years ago, with many teams having to go on a waiting list if they don't get in first with their applications. The majority of teams have come from the UK while the Festival increases to its former stature, with a German and Italian team competing last year, along with an Irish District U21 team. This coming Easter, 1993, has seen enquiries coming from teams further a-field. The Festival takes place over three days, Saturday, Sunday and Easter Monday, with the facility for friendly matches to be arranged on the Friday. The standard ranges through four competitions : hotels in dublin : [1] - Mens Senior. [2] - Ladies Senior. [3] - Mens non-Senior. [4] - Ladies non-Senior. The Senior competitions are usually of a high standard along with some serious sides out for a good laugh. The non-Senior involve teams comprising of both young and old (veterans) just out to experience the fun of Festival hockey. For the tournament fee, teams can expect to be put into one of three top class hotels in Dublin from the Friday until Easter Monday (3 nights - although extra nights can be arranged at a discount from normal hotel fees), or, for a reduced entry fee, a team may accomodate themselves however they please (certain campsites are made available to visiting teams). Wherever you stay, the fee includes (as well as entry to play in the Festival - obvious, eh ?) transport to / from the hotels and pitches, and specially organised functions - the tournament dinner on the Saturday night, and disco on the Sunday night (also included in the fee). A team can expect to play two matches on Saturday, two on Sunday and one on Easter Monday, unless you have to play in the final ! Matches are played on the sand- based astroturf (either the Club's or a nearby school's) as well as on grass and all-weather (shale) pitches.
