However, a few days ago I was reading a travel columnabout a Hotel Discounts reservation that got screwed up, and wouldn't youknow, it happened to a travel writer. So, needless to say, that personwasn't as complimentary of Hotel Discounts as I've been. On the otherhand, there's going to be a glitch in a reservation sometime regardless ofwhich reservation service you use.Evanston is on the north border of the city, a quick cabride downtown if one doesn't want to take the El, whichruns up there. There's a Holiday Inn and an Omni in the"downtown" business district. And there are things tosee and do in Evanston, rather than watch TV at O'Hare.By the way, did the Claridge Hotel or Wyndham AmbassadorWest Hotel pop up at an online travel site? They're atthe top of Michigan Avenue in an upper class residentialdistrict.The Special Deals page at Travelocity (sans Hotel Discounts)or Hot Deals page at Travelscape are my favorites. I have found several reasonably pricedhotels, but would like some feedback about what the areas in which they arelocated are like. Are there other business/tourist activities in the area?Are they isolated or located in rough areas dominated by warehouses,crime-ridden housing projects, etc.How is public transit in the area?I like to walk when I visit a city.
