barbados hotels : Has anyone stayed in either of these hotels in the past year or two? Any feedback about quality of rooms, food, service, courtesy of staff, etc., would be very helpful.Definitely the Sea Breeze. Great location and great accommodation. TheEdgewater is on the East Coast of Barbados which may or may not be a plusfor you. It is quite isolated and the beaches are not good for swimming.I have read good things on Barbados traveltalk about the Edgewater but ifyou are a first time visitor to the island the Sea Breeze is far morecentral to everything. My friend stayed their last year and it was verynice.DianeDonald M. Bostwick wrote:Just got back and as was stated the edgewater is very isolated but in agreat spot with lovely view and excellent food. Lots of surfing done onthis side. Just remember it will be rather expensive no matter where yougo. Have fun.I do not recommend Edgewater if you do not know the hotel. The food, staff, rooms and all that may be good. But are you aware of the location?I am planning a trip to Barbados towards the end of November. I amlooking at the following moderate priced hotels.
barbados hotels : Asta Beach HotelCoconut CourtSeabreeze Beach HotelSandridge Beach HotelWhat watersports are available at the hotel? How safe is the area aroundthe hotel to be out walking around? Are there restaurants and a grocerystore within walking distance? From: ()Subject: Re: Barbados Hotels Newsgroups: Date: 2000-10-30 22:07:56 PST My first choice would be the Sea Breeze, followed by Asta and CoconutCourt. I'm not familiar with the Sandridge because I prefer to stay onthe south coast and it seems that the Sandridge is close to Speightstown(west coast). A friend of mine ended up in a two bedroom suite at theSea Breeze after her son barfed on the ticket agent while waiting to gohome for London. It was quickly decided the young lad was too sick totravel. ahhhh. They were put up at the SB and had a lovely suite. This was 2 1/2 years ago. It is pretty central to everything. As faras groceries...you can take public transportation, walk or taxi to theBig B and they have a shuttle to get you back to your hotel. The Astais fairly close to Bridgetown, as is the Coconut Court, with the CoconutCourt right on the busy road so I'm not sure what the noise would belike. The Asta is tucked away a fair distance to the same road. Theseall have kitchens. We usually packed things like coffee, cereal, pasta, dry mixes, etc in a suitcase and then had space to bring home ourpurchased goods. Can't tell you about the watersports offered at thedifferent hotels. We have always stayed in the Accra aka Rockley Beacharea and have always felt safe, but that's in part to travelling as alarge party. There are six in the family and we usually travelledtogether. Have you visited the Barbados Tourism Authority site? Youwill find it at Enjoy your trip.Diane....leaving for Fiji in 4 days. barbados hotels : Hi Folks,I wonder if anyone out there can advise on somewhere (not too expensive)to stay on Barbados around the Christmas period. There will be only my husband and myself. Both of us like things fairlyquiet (definitely NOT with the young crowd, which I guess rules out theSouth Coast) and would prefer to have several decent eateries withinwalking distance.I had thought around Holetown or on the East coast. The main hotelsaround Holetown seem to be asking exorbitant prices (and no matterhow good, I don't think nearly £5000 for 8 nights B&B can bejustified), but the guidebooks don't seem to have much to say aboutthe East cost at all.Any suggestions? Of course. Europa Hotel in Sunset Crest/Holetown is not badpriced at all. The "but" is that it is a good walk to the beach. But it ispeaceful and quiet. And well worth the price.Or you can also stay quiet on the south coast. At Asta Beach for instance.Silver sands hotel near a place called Ostins which is lively in thenights, but is quite a the hotel. The hotel is right on the beach. Ifyou want further info i traveled with virgin airways & im sure you canget more details off their website! barbados hotels : Adrian,We have booked a 2 week cruise so I'm looking to stay on Barbadoseither side of the cruise - so 18th-21st December and then from 4th-9th January.I have visited visited Barbados three times and stayed once on the WestCoast and twice on the South West Coast. The south coast is not lively inour terms just lively in Bajan terms - I think the South Coast is much moresuperior, the sand is whiter and I prefer it. It is quiet around the hotels(I reccommend the Sea Breeze Beach Hotel) - We have stayed there twice andit is lovely, plus like most Barbados hotels set on the beach - three infact! If you would like more information please just let me know. My email addressis I think you are mixing south and west here. South coast is the most busypart. West coast is more quiet, and with the endless postcard-beaches.Peach and Quiet in Inch Marlow (the south-east of the island) is alovely quiet spot, right on the water, highly popular with Britishguests. It is in an area where a car becomes useful, but the bus stopis close by also. Extremely peaceful. I think they have a website ifyou care to look it up. barbados hotels : We will be vacationing in Barbados toward the end of April and have acouple of questions before I choose a place to stay. We are now lookingat the Bougainvillea on the south coast and Discovery Bay on the west.Does anyone have recommendations on either? How are the beaches? Anyrecommendations on accommodations would be great.Hi Phil,Have never stayed there but would absolutely love to stay at theBouganvillea.I love the South Coast of Barbados and this is a beautiful property.DianeStayed at Discovery Bay two years ago and enjoyed it very much. Go foreither a garden or beach front room. Both are good and the gardens arelovely. Smallish pool with a bar. Food good and service, whilstCaribbean "What's the hurry man?" style, delivered with a smile andpoliteness. The beach is good, lovely sand and in a position that enables you towalk for some distance both ways. Whilst many have recommended Bougainvillea in this newsgroup over a period of time this is the firsttime I have seen Discovery Bay mentioned. It has my recommendationalong with that of my wife and daughter!Good to hear that you recommend Discovery Bay. I was in Barbados last summerto prepare for opening a "Barbados travel agency". I went to Discovery Bayand asked if they were interested in coperate with me and my company, andthey were.Of course I had a tour at the hotel, but I have never stayed there myself, soI am glad to hear your comment.
