If you want a copy of the brochure itself, my guess is that you could call any of the casino 800 numbers and have them send you a copy. --The ascii map covers the main area of AC (the boardwalk). There are two casinos not on the map (Harrah's and Trump's Castle) because they're not on the boardwalk. --The map isn't exactly perfect of course (being ascii), but the basic idea of AC is that there are two main streets that you can drive on (Atlantic and Pacific Avenue), then there's the boardwalk, which, as the name implies, you WALK on--that's the line closes to the Atlantic ocean. The streets going the other way are not necessarily to scale: in general in realNow we need Reno's map to complete this topic. Then we cancreate one (or maybe 3) new entry in FAQ.What do you mean? It's on ML King Blvd across blvd from Sandsone-half block back from ocean. $48 for a double including weekend nights (no two-night min). All roomsopen to outside. Towels are the size of washcloths. Free parking. Butit's fairly clean and in a decent location. Best Western around thecorner (a block and one-half away) is, I believe, $58 weekdays and $119for w/end for comparison.If you expect to sleep very little, the Continental might be OK.Two weeks ago I stayed at the Continental, just north of Claridge, for $48 Fri and Sat, it's an excellent location and is cheap! Now the reality, the place is OLD and the towels sucked beyond belief (bring your own). The rooms were clean and functional (ignore the decor), the beds acceptable and free parking (although Sands, Claridge and Bally's are quite close; and even TropWorld is just a 10 minute walk). Thanks...Well there aren't a lot of cheap hotels (unless you want to stay in the local motels) but if you are interested in a Casino, I have stayed at TropWorld, Sands, Holiday Inn (on the boardwalk - not a casino). I might suggest that you give the Hampton Inn a call. It is a mile or two off the boardwalk but they have shuttles to Ballys Grand.If you are planning to stay on the weekend, you better start getting your reservations now and expect to pay a lot more money.
atlantic city hotels : If you want to stay at a casino, I might suggest TropWorld. I got a weekday rate of $90.00/night (you can probably do better if you shop around but it was summer) but I had a very nice room. It was a two-room suite and well worth the money. The unfortunate thing was that I played poker until 4:00am (this is when the poker rooms close in AC) and didn't get back to my room until 5:30am. So didn't spend much time in the room.Ross--- þ CmpQwk 1.4 #486 þ Aibohphobia (n.): The fear of palindromesIf you've got a car, you can save a lot of money--without giving up a lot of time--by going out the Black Horse Pike (U.S. 40). Not too far out, you'll find a Sheraton and Best Western that arefairly nice and not too expensive (i.e., as low as $35-$45, dependingon specials, ads, AAA discounts, etc.). For an even better deal, though,keep going west to Cardiff, where you can get a room for less than$30 at what's now a HoJo Inn (used to be Travelodge), and as often as not, they'll give you one of the LR/BR suites.Granted, you've got a 15-25 minute drive to your favorite casino, but you can't beat the price closer in, unless you're willing to stay in a rat-trap dive.
atlantic city hotels : Our vacation this year is three nights long. We are thinking aboutdriving down to the New Jersey coast. Many years ago my family stayed inToms River, NJ. Please help with the following:(1) Can you recommend some particularly nice beaches along the New Jerseyshore? Do these beaches have towns with reasonable (around 75 a night)accommodations?(2) We may drive down to Atlantic City to see the casinos. Should we juststay there? My understanding is that it is prohibitively expensive tostay in one of the nicer hotels, and the less nice ones are not worth itat all. There is a varietyto choose from. Do you prefer boardwalks? If you do then there is 1) Wildwood with veryclean large beaches 2) Seaside more sleezy, in my opinion, but is rightnext to Island Beach State Park which is a beautiful clean beach 3) OceanCity which is close to Atlantic City--I haven't spent much time there butit is cleaner than Seaside.
